Chihuahua

The Chihuahua is one of the smallest and most popular dog breeds we have today. It is also the oldest breed in the Americas. There are debates about the Chihuahua's ancestry and some scientists believe that this breed descended from the wild Fennec Fox. The breed name is from the town of Chihuahua in Mexico.

Description:
Chihuahuas have two main types, the short haired type and the long haired type. There is also a second varietal split as well, having to do with the shape of the head. The two types are "apple head" and "deer head". Of all the dog breeds, the Chihuahua also has the largest brain size relative to its body size.

Brichardi - The Fairy Cichlid

The Brichardi is one of the more beautiful and elegant cichlids available to fresh water fish enthusiasts. Brichardi's beauty doesn't come from amazing colors like other cichlids but rather from its long filaments and its fairy-like movement. The Brichardi is a beautiful fish whose base color is tan, with small yellow scales near the start of the tail. The tail, dorsal and anal fins are tan and are fringed with a blue and white edge extending along the elongated tips of the tail fin, a black bar runs from the eye back to the gill cover. A bright gold spot is located just above the bar. This cichlid was named after Pierre Brichard, Pierre was one of the trailblazers who paved the way for exporting these fabulous fishes from Lake Tanganyikan.

Persian Cat

It is said that Persians were smuggled out of Persia (modern day Iran) during the 17th century by European explorers together with spices. Persians are one of the oldest known breeds, dating back to as far as the 1600s. For centuries they draped themselves in courts of royalty, in England, France and Italy. They were the favorites of England’s Queen Victoria and Florence Nightingale. In the 1900s, persian cats were exported around the world and since then they became the most popular cat in the world.

Frontosa

The Frontosa or Cyphotilapia frontosa is one of my absolute favorite members of the Cichlid family. I like it primarily due to his simplistic beauty, they always looks calm and collected. The Frontosa is a fish native to Lake Tanganyika in East Africa. Unlike many cichlid species, Frontosa is a pelagic fish, which means that they neither reside close to the bottom or near the shore. The species resides at greater depths compared to most cichlids and rises to shallow waters in the early mornings to feed on shoaling fish.

Old English Carrier Pigeon

During my youth, I had many pets and one of the pets I had were pigeons. These are bred for show, racing or just for the satisfaction that one can create a family of birds that will continue to procreate and become a colony which grows bigger and bigger. One of the breeds that piqued my interest was the English Carrier Pigeon. They have long necks, slender body and very sleek. This is quite an expensive breed to have compared to other breeds that are available to hobbyists.

Miniature Schnauzer

Recently, a close friend added a new member to his family, a Miniature Schnauzer. He is definitely a
rambunctious little munchkin. He just runs all around and bumps into everything. I see how much this little dude changed his life so I decided to write about Mini Schnauzers for my first post.
